The factual to interpretive ladder

The six groundwater modules form a deliberate ladder. The same site data, the same fieldwork submission, and the same lab ingestion feed every report type. What changes is the depth of interpretation in the output and the seniority of the scientist who reviews and signs it.

    Outputs tabulated results and a site feature plan. Used during a monitoring event to publish interim deliverables to the client before the full report is drafted. Typically reviewed by the project scientist who ran the fieldwork.

    Factual reports (single or dual event)

    A complete monitoring event report with no interpretive commentary. Covers gauging data, sampling data, exceedance tables against the applicable investigation levels, and QA/QC. Reviewed and signed by a project scientist or senior scientist.

    Semi-interpretive reports (single or dual event)

    Add trend commentary, exceedance discussion, and conclusions framed against the conceptual site model. Reviewed by a senior or principal scientist.

    Full interpretive groundwater reports

    Add plume behaviour, LNAPL assessment, contaminant fate and transport commentary, conclusions, and recommendations. Reviewed and signed by a principal or senior principal scientist.

The six modules in detail

GME Appendices Only

For the period between fieldwork completion and the formal report. The fieldwork form submission and any lab data received to date are turned into a tabulated results pack and a site feature plan, delivered to the client as an interim deliverable. It is the deliverable that ends the "where are we up to" emails after a monitoring round.

The output: Tabulated results (Excel) and a site feature plan, packaged for client distribution as an auto-compressed PDF. Excludes interpretive commentary and the full Word report structure. Generated in minutes from the most recent fieldwork submission and any current lab data.

Factual GME Report (Single Event)

The workhorse module of the family. One monitoring round, one report, no interpretive commentary. The module ingests the fieldwork form submission, the lab data file, and the site context (well construction, historical baseline, applicable guidelines) and drafts a complete factual monitoring event report. Every numeric value in the draft is traceable back to the field submission or lab certificate. Every AI-drafted sentence carries a comment tag back to its source data.

The output: A compliant Word document, typically 30 to 60 pages including tables and figures, structured to match the firm’s brand template. Review-ready: a scientist opens the Word file, works through the comment-tagged drafted sections, edits where needed, accepts the comments, and the report is signed.

Factual GME Report (Dual Events)

Covers two consecutive monitoring rounds in a single report. The structure mirrors the single-event module but adds round-on-round comparison tables and pairs gauging and analytical data across the two events. This is the standard deliverable for half-yearly and quarterly programs that report two rounds together; issuing two single-event reports for the same delivery would be wasted scientist time.

The output: A Word document, typically 50 to 100 pages, with the two-round comparison built into every results table. Format and brand template inherit from the firm’s setup. Reviewer flow is identical to the Factual Single Event module.

Semi-Interpretive GME Report (Single Event)

Covers the same factual ground, then adds the next layer of analysis: trend commentary, exceedance discussion framed against the conceptual site model, LNAPL trend observations where applicable, and a brief conclusions section. The drafted interpretive content is anchored to the analytical data and the site history; every interpretive statement carries a comment tag back to the source. This is the report a senior scientist signs.

The output: A Word document covering the factual report structure plus dedicated trend and discussion sections, typically 40 to 80 pages depending on site complexity. The interpretive sections are deliberately scoped to what the data supports, not extrapolated; the reviewer extends or revises the AI draft and signs.

Semi-Interpretive GME Report (Dual Events)

Pairs the dual-event factual structure with the same trend and discussion layer. The two-round comparison gives the trend commentary more to work with: round-on-round movement in dissolved-phase concentrations, LNAPL behaviour over time, and exceedance pattern changes are all native to the output. The most-requested module for ongoing groundwater monitoring programs where each delivery is expected to compare against the previous round and the historical baseline.

The output: A Word document with dual-event factual content plus comparative trend, exceedance, and discussion sections, typically 60 to 100 pages. Reviewed and signed by a senior or principal scientist.

Interpretive Groundwater Report

The deepest module in the family. The report a principal or senior principal scientist signs for site characterisation, plume delineation, closure submissions, and regulator-facing assessments. It covers every layer of the factual and semi-interpretive modules and adds contaminant fate and transport commentary, plume behaviour over the monitoring history, LNAPL conceptualisation where applicable, conceptual site model updates, conclusions, and recommendations. This is the module where comment-tagged traceability matters most: a regulator-facing interpretive report has to be defensible line by line, and EnviroAutomate makes that defensibility visible in the draft.

The output: A full interpretive Word report, typically 80 to 150 pages depending on site complexity and monitoring history depth, including the full factual and semi-interpretive content plus fate-and-transport, plume, LNAPL, and CSM-aligned sections.
